Jesse's family moved from Fauquier Co., VA about 1786 to Rowan County in North Carolina, along with the father, Jacob, and a brother Bennett and their families. Jessey (as it was spelled) was listed in the first census (1790) of Rowan Co., N.C. He was refused a pension because he served on ly 3 1/2 months before the war as over, and 6 months service was necessary to quality for a pension. All of the above information comes from his file at the War Department, given by him in his old age in his application for a pension. From Rowan County, N.C. he moved his family to Grayson County, VA, just above the N. Carolina Line. This was after a few years in Rowan County.
